OTTAWA – Evan Solomon is returning to television as the new host of CTV’s long-running political affairs program Question Period.
Solomon, recently named the first-ever national affairs specialist for Bell Media Radio, will replace Robert Fife who is stepping down as host of the show following the final broadcast of the current season on July 3. In addition to hosting Question Period, Solomon will continue in his current role as host and executive producer of 580 News Talk Radio’s daily Ottawa Now and regular nationally syndicated weekend radio program Real Talk.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Evan to the CTV News family, where he will serve viewers with incisive political discourse each week,” said CTV News president Wendy Freeman, in Tuesday’s news release. “Already embedded into Ottawa’s political scene, Evan is an accomplished journalist with a passion for breaking news that matters.”
Fife, who is also the Globe and Mail’s Ottawa bureau chief, will continue to appear on Question Period, continues the release. Solomon will assume his hosting duties when the show kicks off its 46th season in September.
