SMS TV gaming from Razer

TORONTO – CHUM Ltd.’s youth lifestyle channel Razer – in a North American first – is now enhancing its prime time schedule with a selection of interactive SMS content

The live text-based television gaming is called "RazerTXT" and lets viewers tune into a selection of exclusively created SMS content while enjoying their favourite Razer programs in prime time. Featured in distinct hourlong blocks, RazerTXT gaming will appear as a graphic overlay on the screen (pictured).

Fans coast to coast can send and receive personalized dispatches – that will pop up on their TV screens and their wireless phones – simply by messaging from their handsets to "RazerTXT".

Powered by MyThum Interactive and Marketgraph, RazerTXT debuts with a deluxe menu of titles including "Perfect Match" (love advice), "RazerChat" (real-time, onscreen text dialogues) and "Splitz-ville" (cheeky relationship-on-the-rocks predictions) with "CruiseControl" (celebrity auto trivia), and "Fabloid" (tabloid-style headlines featuring fans with hot stars) joining the RazerTXT lineup November 1st, 2005.

"RazerTXT is the next level in fan interactivity, and we’re excited to deliver this significant North American first in television gaming," said David Kines, vice president of music and youth specialty channels for CHUM Television.

"Providing our audiences with more control and choice of experience is the driving force behind our multi-platform initiatives. As viewers choose to play along with us, and interact with our channels and content, we provide an engaging, new outlet for the more active and participatory audiences of today," added Maria Hale, vice-president, content business development for CHUM Radio and Television.
