Smithsonian Channel expands into Hong Kong


HONG KONG — Blue Ant Media announced Wednesday it has secured a distribution deal for its Smithsonian Channel with OTT platform myTV SUPER in Hong Kong.

Launching today, Smithsonian Channel is the latest addition to myTV SUPER from Blue Ant Media’s suite of channels. The OTT platform with 8.3 million-plus subscribers also carries Blue Ant Entertainment, Blue Ant Extreme and Love Nature 4K. The deal is part of an ongoing partnership between Blue Ant Media and Smithsonian Networks to expand the brand’s footprint internationally, says the news release.

myTV SUPER viewers can now enjoy documentaries like: Aerial Cities, Air Warriors, Apollo’s Moon Shot, and Million Dollar American Princesses: Meghan Markle.

“We are thrilled to launch Smithsonian Channel in Hong Kong with our partner myTV SUPER,” said Beatrice Lee, CEO, Asia Pacific, Blue Ant Media, in the news release. “Smithsonian Channel’s content is not necessarily about having all the answers, but about asking the most interesting questions.”
