Ski Television coming to CBC Gem in January

COLLINGWOOD, Ont. — Production company S-Media today announced a new partnership with CBC Sports that will see the latest season of Ski Television (SkiTV) launch on the free CBC Gem streaming service on January 22.

Episodes of SkiTV (12 episodes x 24 minutes) will be available weekly on CBC Gem in both English and Mandarin. The ski tourism show provides visually stunning ski programming and showcases ski and snowboard destinations around the world, including in Canada, the United States, South America, Asia and Europe. Designed to inspire riders at all levels, the series takes viewers through the full resort experience, highlighting the elements that make up a ski vacation, says S-Media’s press release.

The ski locations featured in the new season include: Soelden, Austria; Wengen, Switzerland; Kitzbuhel, Austria; St. Anton, Austria; Lapland, Finland; and three in beautiful B.C.: Kicking Horse, Revelstoke and Fernie.

“We are excited to be adding CBC Gem to our distribution partners and opening up SkiTV to a new audience online,” says S-Media managing partner Mark Kristofic, in the press release. “As Canada’s Olympic broadcaster and rights holder for FIS World Cup ski programming, a partnership with CBC is a natural fit.”

SkiTV is an established and well-respected series for fans of the sport, and will be a natural companion to weekly staple Road to the Olympic Games, providing viewers with the opportunity to learn more about the international competition venues they will see throughout the championship season,” said Chris Wilson, executive director of sports and Olympics at CBC. “This is especially relevant as we look towards the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and Canadians look for new and engaging content about the sport.”
