Six Quebecers are immersed in Aboriginal communities in new docuseries on Canal D

MONTREAL – Bell Media announced today its specialty channel Canal D will present Premier Contact (First Contact), an original, three-part documentary series, starting April 6 at 7 p.m.

In the series, “six Quebecers with ignorance and prejudice against Aboriginal peoples will experience an 18-day immersion,” an English translation of a Bell Media press release explains.

“With the participation of Samian, a multidisciplinary artist from the Pikogan community, participants confront their preconceived ideas and meet Quebec’s Aboriginal communities. This adventure takes them to the Anishinaabe of Abitibi and Upper Gatineau, to Montreal with the urban Aboriginal population, to the Atikamekws, to the Huron-Wendat territory as well as to the community of Odanak, to the Abenakis. The trip tests their opinions and questions their prejudices. This cultural and spiritual immersion will forever change the lives of the participants.”

Premier Contact is an adaptation of the English-language series First Contact, which aired in Australia and Canada. It is produced by Nish Media in collaboration with Bell Media and APTN.
