
TORONTO — In honour of Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, SiriusXM Canada announced today a new exclusive Town Hall series, Turtle Island Talks, will premiere on Sept. 30 on SiriusXM channel The Indigiverse (channel 165).
The town hall discussion will be moderated by host Dr. Pam Palmater, a Mi’kmaq lawyer from Eel River Bar First Nation and the chair in Indigenous governance at Ryerson University.
Panellists will include Indigenous comedian Howie Miller, retired NHL player Jordin Tootoo, and Mohawk and Anishinaabe journalist and SiriusXM host Kim Wheeler.
Also invited to take part in the discussion are National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Roseanne Archibald, country musician Don Amero, Winnipeg Jets owner Mark Chipman, Cree singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie, Downie-Wenjack Fund board member and Wenjack family representative Harriet Visitor, artist advocate and sākihiwē festival director Alan Greyeyes, and country musician Dallas Smith.
Turtle Island Talks will air several times throughout the day on Thursday on The Indigiverse and on Canada Talks (ch. 167), beginning at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.
The show will also livestream on The Indigiverse social media accounts, including Facebook, as well as SiriusXM Canada’s Facebook account. After its first airing, the show will also be available on SiriusXM Canada’s YouTube channel. SiriusXM Canada subscribers can also listen anytime online and on the SXM App.
