SiriusXM announces 16 shortlisted communities in nationwide Music Town search

TORONTO — SiriusXM Canada today announced the top 16 finalists in its countrywide Music Town search, which began May 26.

Canadians can now vote to award four of the shortlisted towns the opportunity to host “a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience” featuring Canadian artists Arkells, Dallas Smith, Walk off the Earth or 2Frères, a press release says.

After receiving submissions from more than 400 communities across the country, SiriusXM Canada narrowed down the entries to 16 finalists across four different regions — Eastern Canada, Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada.

The shortlisted Music Town communities and featured artists are:

  • Eastern Canada (Arkells): Corner Brook, NL; Gander, NL; Miramichi, NB; Summerside, PE
  • Quebec (2Frères): Blanc-Sablon; Mont-Saint-Hilaire; Rivière-du-Loup; Sept-Îles
  • Ontario (Walk off the Earth): Belleville; Orangeville; Timmins; Uxbridge
  • Western Canada (Dallas Smith): Estevan, SK; Lloydminster, SK/AB; Nanaimo, BC; Sylvan Lake, AB

“Music Town is more than just a concert, it’s part of our ongoing mission to give Canadians greater access to local artists and deliver memorable moments you can only experience with SiriusXM,” said Paul Cunningham, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at SiriusXM Canada, in the release.

Voting is open from today until July 11, 2022 at musictown.siriusxm.ca.

“Residents of the final 16 can increase the odds of their town winning by taking to social media using #SXMMusicTown to encourage additional votes and rally behind their community,” the release says.

On July 14, one town in each region will be announced as a SiriusXM Music Town “based on nomination stories and the total number of votes and rally points earned during the voting period,” according to the release.
