TORONTO – Sirius Satellite Radio is trying to ease the burden of Torontonians’ daily commute by giving away 500 radios with three months of free service to those with the most frustrating commuting tales.
After the city was ranked as having the worst commute (an average of 80 minutes) out of the 19 ranked worldwide cities, Sirius’ contest is asking Greater Toronto Area drivers to share their extraordinary, comical or excruciatingly long commute stories in 50 words or less, and to articulate how their commute would improve with a Sirius radio.
"With these new statistics about the GTA’s commute times ranking above cities like New York, Los Angeles and London, we want to reward patient Toronto drivers and make their daily trips enjoyable," said Janet Langille, VP of marketing, in the announcement. "We can’t fix gridlock and congestion but we can make their drive a better experience with our 120 channels of sports, talk, comedy and 100% commercial-free music. And to be clear, we really will give out 500 radios with three months of free service with no strings attached – this isn’t an April Fool’s Day joke."
