SIRIUS about The Score

TORONTO – Specialty TV service The Score announced a deal with SIRIUS Canada today to provide a 24/7 all-sports radio channel for the satellite radio company.

The Score is the first Canadian sports station on the SIRIUS Canada channel lineup, “with an exciting programming format that will deliver on the high expectations which have been set by The Score on television,” says today’s press release.

SIRIUS provides The Score with what could be an important additional platform in Canada (not to mention North-America-wide). "Canadian sports fans will embrace The Score to quench their thirst for the sports information they want most, where and when they want it," says John Levy, chairman and CEO, Score Media Inc. "Satellite radio will play an increasingly important role in meeting Canadians’ information and entertainment needs at home, at work, or on-the-go."

"The addition of an all sports Canadian channel reinforces the amazing line up of sports play-by-play and information currently available on SIRIUS throughout North America," said Mark Redmond, president and CEO, SIRIUS Canada. "Adding The Score to our roster of high quality programming helps us serve a growing segment of customers that want the latest sports news on demand."

Standard Broadcasting is a partner in SIRIUS Canada with the CBC and SIRIUS (U.S.)

"This relationship demonstrates the leadership of both organizations in the ever-changing broadcast environment. We wanted to provide Canadian sports fans with the leading all sports channel and with the success of The Score on television it was a natural evolution," said Gary Slaight, president and CEO, Standard Broadcasting.

SIRIUS Canada’s full schedule and channels will be announced “in the coming weeks,” added the release.
