TORONTO — Specialty channel Showcase, a Corus Entertainment network, unveiled its fall lineup today, which includes five new series as well as new seasons of returning shows.
Corus also announced Showcase will be available on free preview nationwide throughout October.
The first of the new series to premiere on Showcase this fall is Dr. Death, a Peacock Original series based on Wondery’s hit podcast of the same name, which stars Joshua Jackson as Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a seemingly brilliant surgeon whose patients start leaving his operating room either permanently maimed or dead. The series also stars Alec Baldwin as neurosurgeon Robert Henderson, Christian Slater as vascular surgeon Randall Kirby and AnnaSophia Robb as Dallas prosecutor Michelle Shughart who set out to stop Duntsch.
Dr. Death will debut on Showcase on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Following the season finale of the eight-part series on Sunday, Oct. 31, viewers can watch the docuseries Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story at 10:20 p.m. ET. This four-part series features interviews with the real-life Dr. Henderson and Dr. Kirby as well as Shughart and others close to Duntsch and his criminal case. Both the drama and docuseries are produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
On October 11 at 9 p.m. ET, Showcase will premiere Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, based on the author’s international best-selling thriller. In the series, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (played by Ashley Zukerman, Succession), “must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy,” reads a series description in a Corus press release. Also starring in the series are Valorie Curry (Blair Witch), Sumalee Montano (10 Cloverfield Lane), Rick Gonzalez (Arrow), Eddie Izzard (Ocean’s Thirteen) and Beau Knapp (Seven Seconds). The series is produced by CBS Studios, Imagine Television Studios and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
The two other series premiering on Showcase include the new television series Chucky (yes, that Chucky from the Child’s Play film franchise), debuting Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 10 p.m. ET, and the reimagined sci-fi drama series 4400, debuting Monday, Oct. 25 at 10 p.m. ET.
