CALGARY – Shaw Communications unveiled much higher speeds of its Shaw Go WiFi network for customers who have Shaw’s mid- and higher tier Internet plans.
Effective immediately customers on these plans will enjoy download speeds that are six times faster at nearly 75,000 Shaw Go WiFi hotspots across Western Canada, with included data that far exceeds cell phone plans, says the company.
“At these speeds, customers can expect even better online experiences, including better picture quality, quicker start times and fewer interruptions when streaming services like shomi or Netflix, at home or on the go,” said Chris Kucharski, SVP consumer, in the release.
“Our network was built to provide customers with superior connectivity at home and on the go – and the upgrades to Shaw Go WiFi provide LTE-comparable speeds with enhanced flexibility for our customers who are concerned about using their cell phone data to connect to the Internet,” Kucharski added. “We are improving our Internet services for our customers so they get the most value possible out of their Internet packages.”
Through agreements with more than 90 municipalities, Shaw Go WiFi provides wifi service to residents and visitors in thousands of public facilities in Western Canada. Shaw Go WiFi is used regularly by hundreds of thousands Shaw customers, with more than two million devices connected.
To get access to the faster download speeds, customers have to sign up for Internet 30 plan and above – which provides up to 30 megabits per second (Mbps) download speed, up to 5 Mbps upload speed and 300 gigabytes of data per month.
