VANCOUVER – With network upgrades now far enough advanced, Shaw Communications preceded its annual general meeting here tomorrow with an announcement today that it is launching Shaw Digital Phone in its largest market.
New and existing Shaw customers can receive unlimited North American calling, a bundle of the six most popular calling features such as voice mail and call display, competitive international calling rates, and all-the-time local technical support for $55 per month.
"Customers want a good price and features for their home phone service, but not at the expense of quality, reliability or service support. Shaw Digital Phone is now here to meet that need, with around the clock local support by our experienced team," said Jim Shaw, CEO, in a release. "Our business is built on providing an exceptional customer experience, and our results and customer feedback to date have shown that Digital Phone delivers on the experience and is providing phenomenal value to our customers."
Shaw Digital Phone is immediately available across the City of Vancouver and will be available in Burnaby, Richmond and the North Shore by April 2006. Additional communities within the Greater Vancouver area will be added the following months.
With the launch of Vancouver, Shaw also introduced its new international calling direct dial plan – Shaw International Direct. With rates of just three cents per minute to China and Hong Kong, three cents per minute to Western Europe and 14 cents per minute to India, Shaw has further strengthened the value proposition of the service.
Shaw Digital Phone is a primary line telephone service that uses Shaw’s managed broadband network, not the public Internet, allowing Shaw to offer a consistent level of quality and reliability to its phone customers.
The introduction of Shaw Digital Phone in Vancouver marks the fifth market launch for the company (following Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Victoria). Within one year of unveiling the service, Shaw Digital Phone is now available in all Shaw major markets across Western Canada and is available to 1.7 million homes passed by the company’s broadband network.
