CALGARY – Shaw Communications has successfully bid to provide phone, television and Internet communications services to Snamprogetti Canada for Husky’s Sunrise Energy Project construction camp, the company announced today. The three-year agreement, financial terms were not disclosed, will service 1,500 individual camp rooms and showcase the company’s business solutions says Shaw.
Snamprogetti Canada, a contractor in the design and implementation of large oil and gas projects, is facilitating the construction of the camp. The camp will act as a residence for construction contractors at the Sunrise Energy project, an oil sands project located 60 kms northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
“Up until now business customers have not had any real or meaningful choice for their telecommunications needs,” said Peter Bissonnette, President, Shaw Communications Inc., in a media release. “This agreement with Snamprogetti Canada is one of the largest of its kind for Shaw Business and shows our capability to provide exceptional tailor-made communications services to a wide variety of industries.”
Voice services for the Sunrise Energy Project construction camp will be provided as part of one of the largest SIP deployments that Shaw Business has undertaken to date. Shaw’s IP network will enable customized voice and data solutions allowing for the transfer of voice services over the Internet. High-Definition television services will deliver customized offerings to 1,500 individual camp rooms, including video- on-demand, pay- per -view and a selection of channel packages. Shaw Business will also deliver broadband Internet connectivity to customers at the camp using both wired and wireless devices.
Services for this large-scale offering are currently being implemented and the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of February 2012.
