Shaw sponsors six golf hopefuls at RBC Canadian Open


CALGARY – Shaw Communications announced its sponsorship today of six Canadian professional golfers taking part in the RBC Canadian Open, which begins today at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont. 

The roster of players supported by Shaw includes: Albin Choi from Toronto; Brian Hadley from Sarnia, Ont.; Adam Hadwin from Abbotsford, B.C.; Bryn Parry from Vancouver, B.C.; Roger Sloan from Calgary; and Eugene Wong from North Vancouver, B.C.

“Our goal is to help a steady stream of young and enthusiastic golfers who have a real shot at taking their game to the next level,” said Brad Shaw, CEO, Shaw Communications, of the announcement. “Our hope is to not only support these accomplished athletes, but to inspire thousands of kids dreaming of making it big in this challenging sport and maintain Canada as fertile ground for developing some of the world’s best golfers.”

Shaw’s Global TV is covering the weekend rounds of the RBC Canadian Open, and will also air an hour-long pre-game show Saturday and Sunday that will feature exclusive player interviews and highlights. 

Shaw’s association with the RBC Canadian Open is part of an agreement in which the company has secured 26 weekend broadcasts of the PGA Tour through 2018, as well as coverage of the Masters and the 2015 and 2017 Presidents Cup.
