CALGARY – The Shaw Rocket Fund is calling for entries to its $50,000 prize for the best independently produced Canadian youth or family program.
The juried prize celebrates the best in programs aimed at youth 13 to 17 years, as well as programs targeted at families. Shows of any genre, format, and length are welcome to apply.
The deadline for entry is Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Entry details are online here.
The entries will be judged by a jury international panellists within the children’s broadcasting or production industries from five countries. The jury will select finalists, who will be announced in February 2007.
But the ultimate winner of the $50,000 prize will be chosen by approximately 400 students in Grades 6, 7, and 8. The winner will be unveiled in April 2007.
Now entering its third year, the Shaw Rocket Prize is designed to fuel the children’s production industry by supporting and celebrating the best of Canadian television programming for kids. Since 1998, the Shaw Rocket Fund has invested more than $53 million in Canadian children’s, youth, and family programming.
