Shaw opens Gateway to new home entertainment, networking service


CALGARY – Shaw has unveiled a new home entertainment and networking service that offers customers a shared home PVR and the ability to share pictures and content from their computer onto their television.

Called Shaw Gateway, the service includes a PVR that supports the recording of up to six programs at once, while playing back up to three previously recorded HD programs, a new program guide with enhanced search and content filter capabilities, access to video-on-demand titles through a TV storefront, live events with Shaw Pay Per View and on-screen video games.  In the coming months, the technology platform will also offer remote PVR scheduling and the integration of social media.

"The Shaw Gateway experience is a perfect example of how Shaw is changing the way we do business to meet the needs of our customers, and we’re thrilled to launch a fully integrated entertainment hub that combines technology and connectivity," said president Peter Bissonnette, in Wednesday’s announcement. "The Shaw Gateway will enhance our customers’ entertainment experience and delivers on our promise to provide premium products and services that take advantage of the changing digital landscape."

Shaw Gateway is available immediately to Shaw customers in Calgary for $17 per month over 36 months or $598.  It be rolled out to Edmonton, Vancouver, and nationally throughout the summer.
