The successful applicants are attending Banff on a full-access pass and benefiting from the extensive networking, pitching, and business-building opportunities.  In addition, the Showrunner Training Program group will have an exclusive, tailor-made Festival schedule to follow which will be led by their mentor, Brenda Greenberg, executive producer For Jake's Sake Productions, and include keynotes, master classes, networking opportunities, and private meetings with leading executives and showrunners. The Writer's Apprentice Program group will be placed in a two-week internship in the writer's room of a current Canadian comedy or drama series.

"These programs represent our commitment to the future of great television production in Canada," said Christine Shipton, Shaw Media’s SVP and chief creative officer, in the news release. "We need to ensure that bright, talented, and enthusiastic artists like these have an outlet to advance their skills and achieve their dreams."
