TORONTO – Just in time for viewers to catch-up on hits like Big Brother Canada and Vikings, Shaw Media said Wednesday that it is the first private broadcaster in Canada to offer closed captioning capabilities on its websites.
The captioning spans over 1,300 accessible full episodes across Global and the company’s entertainment and specialty properties, with more enabled content added daily. The new functionality is activated by clicking a ‘CC’ option during the video playback on Shaw Media brand websites.
"Ensuring our content is accessible has always been a priority at Shaw Media and we are excited to be providing the most extensive offering of closed captioned content on our websites," said EVP and president Paul Robertson, in the press release. "This function revolutionizes the way the Canadian deaf and hard of hearing community can engage with our content and is a big step forward in accessibility."
