CALGARY – Shaw Communications has reached a commercial agreement with the City of Campbell River in B.C. to extend Shaw Go WiFi into municipal buildings and public areas within the coming months.

The five-year non-exclusive deal will see Shaw Go WiFi hotspots installed in City Hall, Tidemark Theatre, Willow Point SportsPlex, Campbell River Community Centre, Campbell River Museum, the Maritime Heritage Centre and the Discovery Pier.  The City of Campbell River will continue to supply free WiFi at the airport, City Hall and the Community Centre using its own network and third-party installations.

There is no cost to the City, and Shaw will pay an annual license fee for access to City buildings and infrastructure such as streetlight fixtures.  The City's free WiFi signal is open to anyone using a WiFi enabled device.

"We're pleased to be partnering with the City of Campbell River to bring Shaw customers even greater access to Shaw Go WiFi," said Ron McKenzie, Shaw’s VP operations, in the news release.  "This agreement will increase the number of access points in Campbell River, while providing our customers in the community with the freedom and control to connect to Shaw's unrivalled network while on the go."

Shaw Go WiFi can be accessed at more than 45,000 locations in Western Canada.
