CALGARY – Twenty years is a long time for one fire to burn.
Shaw Communications has rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its premier television event – the holiday fire log! "This blockbuster reunites the critically acclaimed fire log and hand that debuted 20 years ago this holiday season," says Shaw’s press release.
"Fire log fans of old and new will cozy up in front of their television sets this holiday season, and watch what critics are calling the finest holiday programming for all ages. Through the magic of television, Shaw customers will enjoy all the warmth of a natural, flickering fire set to soothing holiday music without the hassle of chopping and hauling wood and stoking flames."
But it doesn’t give off much heat, though.
"The holiday fire log’s 20th anniversary is a significant milestone for Shaw and for quality television programming," said Peter Bissonnette, president of Shaw Communications, tongue firmly in cheek. "Our stellar cast of fire log and hand is what keeps our customers wanting to see this holiday classic year after year. We understand the momentous popularity of this channel, and we enjoy bringing it back every year so Shaw customers can add a little warmth to their homes this Christmas season."
Shaw customers will remember the hand’s latest performance on Turkey TV as enticing, riveting and award-worthy; the fire stoking and turkey basting left audiences breathless and wanting more, says the release. This highly successful television event received significant coverage and praise from national media and fans alike.
Shaw’s ‘fire log’ video first created buzz when it originally aired in Edmonton over the Christmas season in 1986. The channel was an immediate hit with viewers and is eagerly anticipated each year by its fans. Shaw’s ‘fire log’ has caught the attention of media across Canada and the U.S.
Shaw’s fire log will air December 24th through December 27th, 2006 on Shaw TV.
