CALGARY – Shaw Data Centre and Cloud Solutions and its ViaWest subsidiary are partnering with Silicon Valley’s Console to allow businesses to connect directly to hyper-scale cloud providers through Shaw and ViaWest data centres.

This direct link will improve the quality of this connection through guaranteed bandwidth, increased speed, lower latency, and the ability to access one or more cloud providers through a single connection, reads Tuesday’s news release.  Avoiding the open Internet will also ensure connections are less vulnerable to network congestion and at less risk of potential security issues.

“Our Console partnership extends our network and a reliable connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure clouds with privacy, speeds, and costs businesses can count on," said Shaw Data Centre and Cloud Solutions’ VP and GM David Lod, in the release.  "This partnership simplifies cloud integration in a Hybrid IT plan to suit different IT workloads."

Shaw and ViaWest data centres will be Console-enabled starting with the Calgary location and followed by the Denver, Dallas, Portland, Las Vegas and Phoenix data centres later this year.
