CALGARY – Shaw Communications executive vice-president, chief marketing and culture officer Jim Little is leaving the company on May 4th, reported the Globe and Mail Wednesday.

The story says Little (pictured) has decided to retire and that marketing functions will be redistributed to be run by each of the company’s individual business units.

Little joined the company in March of 2012 from the Royal Bank to be its chief marketing officer and was responsible for the overhaul in the company’s marketing and promotion activities, most notably the animated Shaw robots which have become the hallmark of its consumer advertising.

In 2013 he was given additional duties of community TV, as well as corporate and employee communications activities and then in 2016 took over leadership of the company’s human resources as well.

Little will be the second senior executive to depart next month. CFO Vito Culmone announced in February that he would be departing in May with Trevor English taking over.

As many will recall, there are many others who will also be leaving Shaw in the next 12 months as 3,300 opted in February to take a generous buyout offered by the company as the start of what it is calling a “total business transformation”.

There will be more to come on this as Shaw announces its second quarter financial results at 9 a.m. ET. In February, Shaw president Jay Mehr said he would have more details on just what the next steps in its transformation will be.
