
New branding reflects a "digital-first, connectivity company"
CALGARY – Shaw Communications is helping customers to manage all aspects of their home WiFi network through new technology known as Shaw BlueCurve.
Available only with the BlueCurve Gateway modem, the Shaw BlueCurve Home app promises total control of the home WiFi, including the ability to control network access, create user profiles, monitor usage, and block content to one device while maintaining connectivity to another.
Thursday’s announcement said that both new and existing customers with the Shaw BlueCurve Gateway modem can download the Shaw BlueCurve Home app for iOS (10.0 or later) and Android (5 or later) devices starting Friday. The BlueCurve Home app is the latest in-home consumer product that the company has brought to market through its partnership with Comcast.
Shaw is also launching BlueCurve Pods that expand in-home coverage by creating a mesh Wi-Fi network that reduces Wi-Fi dead spots. Currently available only in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, the hexagon-shaped pods plug directly into indoor electrical outlets, and can be moved to suit customers’ coverage needs.
“Connectivity is the fuel that powers our daily lives but many people struggle to find a balance between living a connected life and spending time offline,” said president Jay Mehr, in the news release. “Shaw BlueCurve technology gives our customers their best connected life by giving them connectivity on their own terms.”
Shaw also rolled out a new brand platform along with its BlueCurve technology which it says “mirrors the organization’s forward trajectory as a digital-first, connectivity company.” The updated platform, in market now, introduces a fuchsia accent to Shaw’s traditional blue and white.
“Consumers will see that we are more confident, vibrant, and youthful — a reflection of the exciting changes we have made to our business and the energy we are bringing to the market”, added Katherine Emberly, president, business, brand and communications. “Shaw BlueCurve is going to change the conversation about who we are and what we do for our customers, and that demands a fresh approach to marketing.”
