CALGARY – Shaw Communications has integrated the YouTube and YouTube Kids apps into its intuitive BlueSky TV platform as part of ongoing enhancements to the service.
Shaw said Tuesday that BlueSky TV subscribers may now access YouTube’s entire library of content without needing to change inputs or remotes, and may also the intuitive voice-powered remote to search for specific content that will direct them straight to YouTube.
Families with children may also access the YouTube Kids app, which is a separate app providing a family-friendly viewing experience and simple navigation for young viewers. YouTube and YouTube Kids access can both be restricted using BlueSky TV’s parental controls.
“The addition of YouTube to Shaw BlueSky TV allows Shaw customers to spend less time searching for their favourite videos and more time watching them,” said Shaw’s president of consumer Chris Kucharski, in the news release. “Whether they’re entertaining friends and family, listening to a playlist or following a tutorial, our customers can have their content all in one easy-to-use platform — and it’s all just a voice command away.”
Paired with Shaw WideOpen Internet 150, which features unlimited data, Shaw BlueSky TV customers can surf YouTube freely without data overages. The two services are available together starting at $65 per month for the first six months as part of a two-year ValuePlan.
