
MONTREAL – Long-time Quebecor lawyer and executive Serge Sasseville has announced he is retiring from the company at the end of 2019.
Currently senior vice president, corporate and institutional affairs, Sasseville has been with the company for 32 years where he held a variety of positions such as director of legal services of Quebecor, corporate secretary of Quebecor Communications, vice-president of legal affairs, corporate secretary and assistant to the president of Archambault Group, founder and general manager of the archambault.ca e-commerce site, vice president of legal affairs and corporate secretary of Videotron and Canoe; and president, Archambault Group Music Division.
He sits on the executive committee and is vice chairman of the CWTA, is chairman of CPAC, is a member of the boards of the Quebecor Fund, the Banff World Media Festival, the National Arts Centre Foundation, the Fondation Lafontaine-Cormier and the CMF, among many other accomplishments.
“Serge is an exceptional person who worked with dedication… who always had the success of Quebecor at heart,” said Quebecor CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau in the French announcement of Sasseville’s retirement.
Sasseville noted his pending retirement on Twitter by writing his time at the company was "an exciting journey that will has lasted more than 32 years. A very special thought for the founder Pierre Péladeau who treated me as one of his sons."
CEO Péladeau also announced the return of another executive, Jocelyn Poirier (right), as VP corporate development, taking on some of Sasseville’s soon-to-be-former jobs.
He previously worked at Quebecor from 2005 to 2013 as president of TVA Publications and TVA Boutiques. Since 2013 he has been executive director at the law firm Stikeman Elliott.
