
MONTREAL — The Place des Arts Foundation (Fondation de la Place des Arts) has appointed former Quebecor lawyer and executive Serge Sasseville (pictured) as chairman of its board of directors.
Until his retirement at the end of last year, which was announced in June 2019, Sasseville held the position of senior vice-president of corporate and institutional affairs of Quebecor Media Inc. During his 32 years at Quebecor Inc., he held numerous positions as an executive, lawyer and senior manager.
A lawyer by training and a member of the Quebec Bar since 1981, Sasseville is a director of the Quebecor Fund, the National Arts Centre Foundation, the Fondation Lafontaine-Cormier and the Festival international de la chanson de Granby. During his career, he also sat on numerous boards, including the Banff World Media Festival for five years and Musicaction for 10 years.
Created in 2006, the Fondation de la Place des Arts is a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase accessibility to the arts and culture by supporting awareness, educational and creative projects initiated by Place des Arts in Montreal. The programs supported by the foundation are aimed at a variety of clientele, including children and their families, adolescents and their teachers, people with special needs, artists and cultural communities.
