SecurTek CEP members ratify agreement


REGINA – SaskTel reports that members of the Communications Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) have voted in favour of ratifying a new collective agreement at security arm SecurTek.

“We’ve very pleased with the ratification of this agreement, which provides SecurTek and its employees with stability and security in a dynamic and competitive industry,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel president and CEO in a statement. “We will continue to work together in order to provide SecurTek customers with excellent customer service.”

The terms of the proposed deal include a 5.5% general wage increase over the first three years of the agreement, an additional .5%general wage increase in year three in consideration of negotiated efficiencies and a 2% general wage increase in year four of the agreement.

SecurTek and the union also agreed to an increase in contributions to the Public Employees Pension Plan of .25% in year three of the agreement.

The new agreement will be for a four-year term ending December 22, 2013. Highlights of the agreement include:

• Retroactive to December 14, 2009 all hourly rates of pay shall be increased by 1.0%
• Retroactive to December 13, 2010 all hourly rates of pay shall be increased by 3.0%
• Effective December 12, 2011 all hourly rates of pay shall be increased by 2.0%
• Effective December 12, 2011 pension contributions shall be increased by .25%
• Effective December 10, 2012 all hourly rates of pay shall be increased by 2.0%
