WATERLOO, ON – BlackBerry’s new president of global enterprise services used his first official public communication to take a swing at rival Samsung which is attempting to gain a foothold in the lucrative enterprise mobility business.
In a post Tuesday on the Inside BlackBerry Business Blog, John Sims questioned whether Samsung’s Knox-enabled Galaxy S4 smartphones can “survive in a hostile environment”, referencing recent reports that researchers at Israel’s Ben-Gurion University of the Negev discovered “a major vulnerability” that allows hackers to easily intercept data from the devices.
“Coupled with previous issues that have come to light regarding their security, this critical vulnerability calls into question – is Knox ready for the enterprise and government customers who cannot risk the security of their mobile data?”, reads the post. “With Samsung still battle testing its enterprise platform and fixing security bugs, industries that require the most stringent security needs can trust that there’s nothing more secure than a BlackBerry device managed by a BlackBerry Enterprise Server – period.”
Sims added that BlackBerry has “earned the trust of more than 80,000 enterprise and government customers worldwide” and aims to continue to be “the industry leader in mobility management”.
