CBC SPORTS AND U SPORTS announced today they have reached a four-year agreement for the exclusive English-language digital broadcast rights for U Sports national championships.

Independent ISP pushing voters to get pledges to lower rates from election candidates

OTTAWA – The Federal Court of Appeal will look into whether the CRTC was correct in its May decision to revert back to older, more expensive bulk internet purchase rates set in 2016.
The court said it will review the case in a decision dated last Wednesday after independent internet service provider (ISP) TekSavvy, which buys network capacity from the larger telecoms, filed an appeal of the decision in June. The larger carriers include Bell, Rogers, and Telus.

OTTAWA – Telus announced today it is donating 14,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to kids in need through its annual Kits for Kids program.
Since 2006, Kits for Kids has provided 180,000 free backpacks full of supplies to vulnerable kids around the country.

TORONTO — Google Cloud announced today its new Toronto cloud region is now open.
“Toronto joins 27 existing Google Cloud regions connected via our high-performance network, helping customers better serve their users and customers throughout the globe,” reads a blog post from Jim Lambe, managing director of Google Cloud Canada.
It is the second such region in Canada, following the launch of Google Cloud’s Montreal region in 2018.

MONTREAL – Telus Health announced today its health companion for Apple Watch is now available to English and French speaking Canadians.
Telus Health Companion on Apple Watch is an emergency monitoring service provided through the company’s LivingWell Companion national response service.
It “leverages fall detection and location sharing capabilities of Apple Watch, which detects that the user has taken a hard fall,” a press release says.

Assessment revealed through judicial review request in Federal Court by China Mobile

OTTAWA – A Chinese state-owned company that resells services on the Telus network was told by the federal government last month it must divest its operations in Canada over national security concerns, according to court documents.

CALGARY – Radicle Group Inc. announced today an investment by Telus’s strategic investment arm, Telus Ventures, which will allow the carbon credit company to expand further globally.
Radicle, which now operates in Canada, the U.S. and Brazil, is “Canada’s largest developer of compliance-grade carbon credits,” according to a press release. MONTREAL, GATINEAU and BURNABY – Telus announced today residents in the Outaouais, Lanaudière and Laurentides regions of Quebec now have access to the company’s 5G network, and that it is investing $28.5 million in Burnaby this year.
