VANCOUVER – Telus has soft-launched a new, live, subscription television service to seven communities in British Columbia and Alberta.
Called Pik TV, it provides live TV and on demand content, as well an interface to popular streaming services like Netflix and YouTube, without a contract, starting at $20/month. The new service offers a slimmed-down feature set from Optik TV, giving customers more choice to design an entertainment experience around how they want to watch. It runs on smartphones, tablets and an Android TV powered box the company is distributing.

MONTREAL – Telus has signed a 20-year partnership with the Old Port of Montréal Corporation (OPMC) to equip the historic site with the latest next-generation wireless technology, including a new free WiFi zone.
Telus will also deploy a C-RAN (Centralized Radio Access Network) technology that will maximize the performance of its LTE-A (Long Term Evolution-Advanced) wireless network throughout the Old Port site. TORONTO – Beanfield Metroconnect has moved in to the Concord CityPlace condominiums in downtown Toronto, taking over residents’ Internet and home phone services from Telus.
CityPlace is a 44-acre site consisting of 24 condo buildings with approximately 9,200 units. The Toronto-based independent telco said Wednesday that the process of replacing the existing infrastructure with its new fibre is underway, with full roll-out to all condo buildings scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer. VANCOUVER – Telus now has over 100,000 new wireless customers after formally closing a deal with Bell that saw it pick up approximately one-quarter of the newly merged Bell MTS' postpaid wireless customers.
The deal, which closed April 1 and is valued at approximated $300 million, also includes 15 dealer locations in Manitoba.

VANCOUVER – Telus is joining a pilot program in BC that aims to help youth transitioning from foster care to stay connected.
The Vancouver-based company is making Moto G smart phones available to up to 1,000 current and former youth in care. The devices include monthly phone and data plan credits for up to two years, plus unlimited nationwide talk and text, and up to 3GB of monthly data usage.
