LLOYDMINSTER, Alta., SALMO, BC and GOLDEN, BC – Telus announced yesterday its 5G network is now available to those in Lloydminster, Alberta and Salmo and Golden, British Columbia.
This is part of Telus’s $14.5 billion investment in Alberta and $13 billion investment in B.C. through 2024, according to the press releases for the Lloydminster, Salmo and Golden expansions.
The press releases indicate 67% of Canadians have access to Telus’s 5G network right now and that the company is on track to provide 5G to 70% of Canadians by the end of the year.

GATINEAU – Numerous intervenors in their final submissions to the CRTC continue to argue the merger of Rogers Communications and Shaw Communications is not in the public interest and should be denied, despite the fact Rogers offered some concessions in its reply on day five of the recent hearing into the matter as well as in other documents since submitted by the company to the Commission.

The Federal Court on Tuesday denied China Mobile’s request to temporarily suspend the federal government’s ban on its operations until the case has run its course.
The Mobile Virtual Network Operator, which resold Telus wireless plans, was ordered to cease operating in Canada this summer on national security grounds. The federal government is concerned the company’s ties to the Chinese Communist party will undermine the security of Canadians. China Mobile asked the court to review the decision and, in the meantime, filed a motion to pause the ban until the case can be fully tried.

Rogers and Fido see largest increases
OTTAWA – The Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) accepted 17,003 consumer complaints in the past year – a 9% increase compared to the previous year, according to its annual report released today.
The annual report covers the period from Aug. 1, 2020, to July 31, 2021. In this timeframe, CCTS concluded 17,506 complaints, a 10% increase from last year (this includes complaints received before Aug. 1, 2020, which were concluded during the year covered by today’s report.)
