VANCOUVER – A surge in new wireless, internet and TV customers at Telus helped to drive up third quarter profits by 4.2%, the company said Thursday.
For the period ended September 30, 2017, consolidated operating revenue rose 4.0% to $3.4 billion from the same quarter a year ago, reflecting an increase in revenue from its growth services, including wireless and wireline data revenues.
Earnings before interest, income taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 5.9% to $1.2 billion, while adjusted EBITDA was up 4.4% due to higher revenue growth and cost savings from ongoing operational efficiency and effectiveness initiatives.

OTTAWA – Telus has won a seven-year, $176 million contract from the federal government to upgrade its communications services to include Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone, instant messaging, and desktop videoconferencing.
