REVELSTOKE, B.C. – Telus is investing $2.2 million to bring new wireless coverage to more than 35 kilometres of difficult terrain along Highway 1 between Malakwa and Revelstoke, as part of a strategic partnership with the province.

VANCOUVER – Telus says Mason Capital has dramatically reduced its shares in the company with its level of foreign ownership dropping from 33% to 15% (as of Nov. 16). As a result Telus says requests by non-Canadians for a reservation to purchase common shares are now being considered and approved, if they don’t risk causing Telus to exceed the foreign ownership threshold. OTTAWA – The CRTC says it will begin regulating Northwestel’s backbone connectivity V-Connect IP VPN service, and has ordered it to file a revised pricing model for what it charges competing internet service providers, along with a cost study justifying that price by year’s end.
The CRTC first directed Northwestel to file competitive rates nearly a year ago, but the company appealed the decision. The regulator this week responded by rejecting all of the carrier’s arguments in its decision.
