Class action filed against Rogers over nationwide outage, “false representations”

Accuses Rogers of “gross negligence” MONTREAL – A class action lawsuit has been filed against Rogers Communications over the nationwide outage that began last Friday and “false representations”, particularly the company’s claim to be Canadas “most reliable” network. The lawsuit was filed by LPC Avocat Inc. on behalf of Arnaud Verdier in the Quebec Superior Court. The class action has not yet been authorized by a judge. Industry minister demands telecoms enter formal agreement to improve network resiliency (updated)

OTTAWA – After meeting with representatives from several Canadian telecommunications service providers, Innovation, Science and Industry minister François-Philippe Champagne announced he has directed them to take immediate steps to address network resiliency in Canada. ISED, CRTC commissioning performance data on 50/10 fixed-wireless access

The telecom has been experiencing network issues across the country since early this morning, according to an online service map and London, England-based global Internet monitor NetBlocks.
