Telus CEO donates $100,000 to McGill University Health Centre

MONTREAL — Darren Entwistle, Telus president and CEO and a McGill alumnus, is donating $100,000 of his salary to support the work of researchers at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) studying the impact of virtual connections on hospitalized patients who are cut off from their families and friends during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was announced today. Telus seeks injunction against Shaw over Fibre+

Internet traffic moderated in May, says CWTA

OTTAWA — The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) has provided updated data about the changes in traffic volumes and usage patterns that have occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nokia expands 5G ReefShark chipset portfolio

ESPOO, Finland — Wireless network equipment maker Nokia announced Monday it is collaborating with semiconductor designer Broadcom to develop new custom system-on-chip (SoC) processors which will be integrated into Nokia’s “5G Powered by ReefShark” chipset portfolio. The new SoC solutions will utilize Nokia’s wireless technology and Broadcom’s expertise in application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technologies. Telus launches 1.5 Gbps in B.C. and Alberta

VANCOUVER — Home Internet customers in Western Canada now have another high-speed option to consider, with the announcement from Telus on Wednesday it is launching its Telus PureFibre 1.5 Gigabit service for residents in B.C. and Alberta.
