Telus expands 4G LTE network across Sea to Sky

VANCOUVER – Telus is expanding its 4G LTE network to Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton and the Sea to Sky Highway with a $1.7 million investment. OTTAWA – In a battle of GOs, Telus is charging Corus Entertainment and Shaw Communications of conspiring to block its efforts to stream Movie Central/HBO content to its Optik On The Go customers, which competes directly now with Shaw`s GO TV Everywhere service. BC – Telus has invested $15.3 million in expanding it 4G LTE wireless network into 27 communities throughout BC and another $1.35 million in Alberta, it announced today. NEW YORK, N.Y. – U.S. hedge fund Mason Capital Management says the B.C. Court of Appeal will hear its challenge of a recent ruling that favoured Telus. Competition Bureau launches $31 million lawsuit against Bell, Rogers, and Telus for misleading ads

OTTAWA – The Competition Bureau announced Friday it’s launching a $31 million lawsuit against Bell Canada, Rogers Communications and Telus Corporation and the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA). The Bureau alleges that the telcos promoted premium texting services while giving the impression that they were free. It’s also demanding that they cease the misleading advertising and provide full refunds to customers. The lawsuit, which seeks penalties of $10 million from each telco, and $1 million from the CWTA, follows a five-month investigation. Telus wins legal fight against U.S. hedge fund -? Mason appeals decision

VANCOUVER – The Supreme Court of British Columbia today ruled that Telus’ largest investor, hedge fund Mason Capital Management, cannot hold a meeting of its shareholders to consider a proposal that could have blocked the company's share consolidation plan. The U.S. hedge fund which held 19% of Telus' voting shares as of March 31, is opposing Telus’ plan to consolidate its voting and non-voting stock on a one-for-one basis.
