OTTAWA – The iconic American talk show Late Show with David Letterman may have wrapped up last week, but it’s still top of mind with some angry Canadian viewers, and the CRTC.
The Commission has fired off letters to Rogers Media, Rogers Communications, and Shaw Communications over alleged simultaneous substitution errors made by the companies during the show’s much-hyped finale on May 20. According to the letters, dated May 27, the Commission has received “several complaints regarding improperly executed simultaneous substitutions” that took place near the end of the show.

CALGARY – Shaw Communications has inked a partnership agreement with the Canadian Football League (CFL) that includes becoming the first ever presenting sponsor of the Grey Cup.

CALGARY – Shaw Communications executives acknowledged yesterday a shift in strategy when it comes to selling home phone to its customers. In effect, it’s loosening its triple play bundle for those who want that option.

CALGARY – Shaw Communications second quarter revenue came in at $1.34 billion and at $2.73 billion for the first half of the fiscal year, which are increases of 5% and 3%, respectively, the company announced this morning.
Total operating income before restructuring costs and amortization of $557 million improved 5% over the comparable quarter while the year-to-date amount of $1.16 billion improved 2% over the prior year. The company’s Q2 and first half ended February 28.

CALGARY – Shaw Communications said that a syndicate of lenders have provided a US$395 million term loan and a US$85 million revolving credit facility for its new data centre firm ViaWest.
The facilities were used to repay the outstanding debt under ViaWest's prior credit facility and for its general corporate purposes. The term loan matures in March 2022 and the revolving credit facility matures in March 2020.
Shaw bought the Denver-based colocation, cloud, and managed services provider last July for US$1.2 billion.
