Rogers to be new CTAM Educational Foundation patron

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Two new corporate patrons are providing their support to the Educational Foundation of the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM). Rogers Cable has signed-on as a gold level patron and Suddenlink Communications as a bronze level patron, the CTAM announced Wednesday. XM Canada cuts losses a little as subscribers grow

TORONTO – Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings reported a second quarter loss of $15.8 million Monday, an improvement over the same quarter of 2006. Former Rogers CMO Munro dies

VANCOUVER – John Munro, who retired as Rogers Cable’s chief marketing officer in 2006, died of a heart attack at his home in the Vancouver area on April 4th. He was 59. Reinfelds promoted at Rogers

TORONTO – Aivy Reinfelds has been promoted to vice-president television development and distribution at Rogers Media, taking over from Julie Osborne, who moved on to become associate publisher of another Rogers property, Maclean’s magazine. The company altered the job somewhat since Osborne’s title was SVP affiliate sales and marketing, meaning Reinfelds will also be responsible for developing new TV concepts as well as his distribution role.

CBC acquires broadcast, web rights to Toronto FC soccer matches

TORONTO – The CBC has acquired the broadcast rights, including video streaming, to Toronto FC, Canada’s first Major League Soccer (MSL) club, it was announced Wednesday. CBC Television will broadcast 14 regular season Toronto FC games, including the expansion franchise’s April 28 home opener against the Kansas City Wizards, while cbcsports.ca will video stream all of the CBC broadcasts live and on-demand.
