Rogers expanding rural nets in Simcoe County, Kawartha Lakes, thanks to UBF

TORONTO – Rogers Communications said today announced that it has granted funding from the federal government’s Universal Broadband Fund to expand its high speed networks in Simcoe County and Kawartha Lakes. Through a total joint investment of over $3.2 million, Rogers will expand its fibre optic network with three projects across Simcoe County to enable it to deliver download speeds of up to 1 Gbps. Rogers will expand its network by 44 kilometres and will serve over 1,000 homes in Gamebridge, Bass Lake and Orr Lake. Rogers helps University of Waterloo with autonomous shuttle

WATERLOO – The University of Waterloo has begun showcasing a new driverless, autonomous shuttle research program that will transport students and staff around campus (above). TORONTO — During a virtual ceremony Tuesday night, Rogers Communications awarded Ted Rogers Scholarships to more than 375 Canadian youth to support their post-secondary studies this fall and in recognition of their community leadership and volunteerism. Rogers 5G comes to Halifax

HALIFAX — After expanding its 5G network in New Brunswick earlier this month, Rogers Communications today announced it is launching 5G service in Halifax. The company says its 5G network is the first and only one available in Nova Scotia right now, and its 5G service now reaches 12 communities across Atlantic Canada, including Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton and now Halifax.
