Nikitopoulos heads up new revenue, strategy team at Rogers Media

Consumer group OpenMedia.ca joins call for set asides in 700 MHz auction

VANCOUVER – The new wireless companies in Canada appear to have an ally in OpenMedia.ca after the consumer group kicked off a new campaign Wednesday dubbed 'Stop the Cell Phone Squeeze'.
 
The campaign includes an on-line petition that encourages Canadians to ask Industry Minister Christian Paradis and Prime Minister Harper to set aside wireless spectrum for “independent competitors” in the upcoming 700 MHz auction.

CRTC must audit incumbents’ Internet infrastructure costs, says OpenMedia.ca

VANCOUVER – Consumer group and self-described pro-Internet advocate OpenMedia.ca wants the CRTC to conduct a transparent audit and review of Internet infrastructure costs in order to stave off what it calls “backdoor rate hikes” by incumbents. Canadians anticipate mobile payments, faster networks: Rogers survey

TORONTO – Canadians believe that faster network speeds, smaller laptops, and purchases over their wireless device will be part of their future in 2012 and beyond, according to a new survey commissioned by Rogers Communications. Broadcasters require “timely notice” of packaging, channels changes, CRTC warns BDUs

OTTAWA – BDUs must provide at least 60 days notice to broadcasters before changing their terms of carriage, packaging or retailing of any programming service, the CRTC has reiterated to carriers in a letter this week. The Commission drove home this point, originally set out in Broadcasting Public Notice 2005-35, at the behest of the Independent Broadcast Group/Le groupe de diffuseurs indépendants (IBG/GDI).
