Customers can keep TiVo though MONTREAL – Cogeco Connexion will roll out the MediaFirst IPTV platform from MediaKind (previously Ericsson Media Solutions) to its Canadian cable customers starting next year. Canadian 4G speeds way up, says OpenSignal

LONDON, UK – While all three of Canada's national mobile operators have cranked up their 4G speeds over the last six months, Telus still holds a commanding lead, says OpenSignal in its new semi-annual report Mobile Networks Update: Canada. The wireless mapping coverage company examined close to 678 million measurements collected from 31,762 mobile test devices between April 1 and June 29, 2018 in its update on Canada scheduled to be officially released this week. TORONTO and VANCOUVER — Hundreds of phone calls to northern Canada are failing to get through, and Iristel and Telus have their own theories as to why, each accusing the other company of engaging in suspect telecom practices that it claims are the underlying cause. Telecom growth helps to sustain Quebecor revenues

MONTREAL — Growth in Quebecor’s telecom business helped to offset a decline in its media segment, enabling the communications company to maintain relatively flat revenues in the second quarter of 2018. Quebecor released its consolidated financial results on Thursday, reporting its Q2 2018 revenues of $1.04 billion were up $4.9 million, or 0.5%, compared to the second quarter of 2017. The company’s second-quarter 2018 adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was $417.1 million, an increase of $12.8 million or 3.2% from the same quarter of 2017. DARTMOUTH, NS — Newcap Radio owner Newfoundland Capital Corporation reported Thursday its revenues in the second quarter of 2018 were down slightly compared to Q2 2017, saying its expansion into the Kamloops, BC, market had provided revenue growth to help offset soft results in Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador.
