Natale, Bibic, hope Thursday’s TPIA decision echoes MVNO and protects “facilities-based”

Rogers to deliver broadband to Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

TORONTO — Rogers Communications announced today it is investing $1.4 million to bring high-speed broadband services to more than 275 homes and businesses in the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN) community in southwestern Ontario. Shaw’s proposed merger with Rogers clears another hurdle

CALGARY — Shaw Communications announced late Tuesday afternoon the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta has approved the proposed business combination agreement between Shaw and Rogers Communications. This follows news last week that Shaw’s shareholders voted overwhelmingly in favour of the purchase deal, which still requires regulatory approval from the Competition Bureau, ISED Canada and the CRTC. C-band will go to 5G and rural wireless

Auction of 3800 MHz spectrum in 2023 OTTAWA – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada announced today that spectrum in the range of 3650-4200 MHz, known as the 3800 MHz band, will be repurposed to improve rural connectivity and ensure the effective deployment of 5G technologies. Also known as C-band, those particular frequencies have been used for decades by satellite operators such as Telesat and other fixed wireless communications. Xplornet, Rogers and Terago, among others, have spectrum licences in the band. Rogers expands Connected for Success

TORONTO – Rogers Communications said this week it is expanding its low-cost home internet program, Connected for Success, according to a company blog post. This program is aimed at helping low-income Canadians connect and was launched by Rogers in 2013. It now offers plans starting at $9.99 a month for 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, up to $34.99 a month for 150 Mbps download 15 Mbps upload.
