Primus business services growing quickly

TORONTO – Primus Canada has opened two new Internet Data Centre facilities in Toronto and Ottawa and will open two more in early 2008. The facilities are being opened to meet growing consumer demand. While the Canadian managed services industry is growing at roughly 10% annually, according to IDC Canada, Primus’ managed services business surged ahead by 34% in 2006, says the company. Feds take action on film piracy

OTTAWA – Recording movies inside movie theatres will soon be illegal in Canada. “Canada’s new government is taking action to curb film piracy by bringing forward amendments to the Criminal Code of Canada. TORONTO – The National Film Board’s website www.nfb.ca/filmmakerinresidence has received the Canadian New Media Award for excellence in news and information. It beat out competition that included the Ottawa Citizen’s Tracks to Freedom (www.ottawacitizen.com/features/freedom) and CBC.ca/news. The Filmmaker-in-Residence website consists of an online documentary that fuses full-screen video, photos, audio and text-based narrative to tell the story of the National Film Board of Canada’s residence project. Federal government commits $120 million to CANARIE

OTTAWA – The federal government has committed $120 million in 2006-07 to CANARIE Inc. to maintain its CA*net broadband network that links universities, research hospitals and other science facilities over the next five years.
