Mascon rolls out 100 Mbps Internet speeds

SALMON ARM, B.C. – Independent cableco Mascon has ramped up its Internet speeds after launching its new high speed fibre optic backhaul connection in the North Shuswap. TORONTO – The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) and Entertainment One (eOne) have selected three creators for the inaugural CFC / eOne TV Adaptation Lab. The three participants are author and digital journalist Angela Misri; playwright, director, and Theatre Brouhaha artistic director Kat Sandler; and author Michael F. Stewart. UPDATED: Super Channel parent granted creditor protection, owing $115.7 million

EDMONTON – The Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta today granted Allarco Entertainment 2008 Inc. and Allarco Entertainment Limited Partnership (which does business as Super Channel) protection from its creditors under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). The initial period is for 30 days, to expire on June 25, 2016, subject to extensions, if granted by the Court. According to court documents, the company owes $115.7 million to various creditors, including the likes of Twentieth Century Fox, Starz and Warner Bros. for content airing on the pay TV service. Quebec broadcasters call out CBC/Radio-Canada’s Lacroix for “ferocious competition”

VANCOUVER and MONTREAL – The heads of three private Québec broadcasters have taken exception to comments made by CBC/Radio-Canada president and CEO Hubert Lacroix this week that they claim “mischaracterized” their position on the role of the public broadcaster.
