Obituary: Bill Evanov, founder and president, Evanov Radio

TORONTO — Evanov Communications Inc. announced last week the company’s founder and president, Vasil William (Bill) Evanov, died on February 28 at the age of 77. Born in 1942, Evanov was the son of Bulgarian immigrant parents. After learning the business during his tenure with CHIN Radio, working with the legendary Johnny Lombardi, Evanov launched his first radio station, CIAO-AM 530, a multilingual station in the Brampton/Toronto market in 1984. Evanov Communications now operates 19 stations across the country and has several hundred employees. Canada ranks high in wireless value, says U.S. study

OTTAWA — In a study commissioned by U.S. industry association CTIA and conducted by New York-based NERA Economic Consulting, Canada’s wireless industry ranks highest in value proposition among G7 nations and Australia. Film and TV productions generated $2.16 billion for Ontario economy in 2019

TORONTO — Ontario’s film and television industry had a record-breaking year in 2019, with 343 productions bringing in $2.16 billion in production spending and supporting 44,540 full-time equivalent direct and spin-off jobs, the provincial government announced Friday.
