MuchMore morphs into M3

TORONTO – After 15 years as MuchMore, Bell Media said Thursday that it is re-branding the former music service into M3, a "destination channel" for 30-somethings. Starting September 30, programming will include music, scripted series, reality programming, and movies, as well as the premieres of dramas Reign, Ravenswood, and the annual Pretty Little Liars Halloween special.

GATINEAU – Broadcasters, distributors and special interests all took predictable stances on the CRTC's proposed framework for the distribution of national news services in interventions published this week. The comment period for the framework, which launched from the Commission's August decision to deny mandatory distribution to Sun News Network, ended on Monday night. St-Pierre promoted to top job at Cogeco Cable Canada

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable announced today it has promoted Louise St-Pierre, who has been with the company for 14 years, to the position of president and CEO of Cogeco Cable Canada. St-Pierre, who is now responsible for overseeing the operations of Cogeco Cable Canada, first joined Cogeco Cable in 1999 as VP and CIO. Over the years she held increasingly senior positions with the company’s management team. In 2007 she was named VP of customer services and Ontario operations, and in 2011 was promoted to SVP residential services in Sept 2009.

Despite basic cable sub losses, new acquisitions help drive Cogeco’s third quarter

MONTREAL – Good third quarter results from Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Cable were helped along thanks to six months of operating results of new acquisition Atlantic Broadband and four months operating results from an even newer buy, Peer 1 Network Enterprises, the company reported Wednesday evening. AUX HD available to Eastlink and Cogeco customers

TORONTO – Blue Ant Media’s AUX TV announced Tuesday that Eastlink and Cogeco Cable have signed as the first distribution partners to carry AUX HD. Eastlink subscribers will automatically receive AUX HD on channel 759 (HD) and can still receive AUX TV on channel 294 in SD. Bundled customers happiest, says JD Power

TORONTO – Canadians who bundle their television, Internet and telephone services with the same provider are generally happier customers and are likely to recommend their provider to family and friends, according to a J.D. Power report released Thursday. According to the Television Provider Customer Satisfaction Study, 83% of customers bundle their TV and Internet service with the same provider, while 17% subscribe to just TV service with their telecom provider. Among customers who bundle, 59% also have telephone service with their provider—commonly referred to as a triple-play package.
