Cogeco upgrades Internet speeds

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable today upgraded its high-speed Internet (HSI) service to handle up to 7 Mpbs in all its service areas. The cableco is increasing the combined upload and download bit cap, so its Pro service limit will triple from 30 GB to 100 GB. The Standard service limit will quadruple from 15 GB to 60 GB, and the Lite (or Mini, in Quebec) limit will quintuple from 2 GB to 10 GB. The improvements will not cost customers extra. TQS ratings rising for Cogeco

MONTREAL – Thanks to the newest season of Loft Story, results at Cogeco Radio and Television’s broadcast outlet TQS look a lot better this quarter, at least in the ratings. MONTREAL – Subscriber growth across the board fuelled a strong second quarter of fiscal 2006, ended February 28th, for Cogeco Cable. Telecom Policy Review: Open broadcasting to market forces, Cogeco says

OTTAWA – The federal government should open up broadcasting to market forces if it does the same for telecommunications, Cogeco Cable says. The cableco says it welcomes the telecom policy review panel report issued Wednesday that recommends the feds reduce government and regulatory interference in telecommunications as much as possible. But that should extend to broadcasting, Cogeco says. Cogeco digital phone service launches in Waterdown, ON

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable today launched its digital phone service in Waterdown, ON, near Hamilton. Most residents will be able to sign up for the service, even if they don’t already have Cogeco’s cable hooked up. More than one-third of homes in communities served by Cogeco have access to digital phone service, and the company is continuing to roll it out to most cities, expected to be completed by the end of this year. Cogeco voice now in Georgetown

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable Wednesday announced its Digital Voice service is available to the residents of Georgetown, Ont. Georgetown is about a 45 minute drive west of Toronto. Currently, 35% of homes passed in Cogeco’s territories have access to Digital Phone service, including some of its larger regions like Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville.
