Cogeco Data Services inks deal with City of Toronto

TORONTO – Cogeco Data Services has signed a 10-year, multi-million dollar agreement with the City of Toronto to upgrade its wide area network services to one of the most technologically sophisticated, all-optical networks in Canada. The deal will include a wide area network connection to City agencies, boards, and commissions including the Toronto Public Library, Toronto Police Services, Toronto Transit Commission, Toronto Zoo and Toronto proper facilities, serving a majority of the City’s 50,000 employees. Cogeco promotes St-Pierre

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable’s Louise St-Pierre has been promoted to senior vice-president, residential services, the company has announced. In this newly created position, she will be responsible for customer service, technical operations, engineering, information technology, telecommunications, human resources, TVCogeco and community relations in Canada. St-Pierre (pictured) had previously been VP customer services and Ontario operations. Cogeco announces corporate re-org

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable has completed an internal corporate reorganization of some of its subsidiaries. The activities of Cogeco Cable Quebec Inc. have been transferred to Cogeco Cable Quebec General Partnership (a newly formed general partnership), while substantially all of the activities of Cogeco Cable Canada Inc. were transferred to Cogeco Cable Canada LP (a newly formed limited partnership). Cogeco boosts Internet speed in Ontario

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable has launched a new high-speed Internet package (HSI) in Ontario that will allow customers to achieve a download speed of 50 Mpbs, 1.5 Mbps upstream, and a monthly capacity of 150 GB download. Called the ‘HSI Ultimate’ package, the service comes with Cogeco’s "full range of security services” and includes the modem rental. Portuguese division losses weigh heavily on Cogeco’s Q3 results

MONTREAL – While growth in the television and radio divisions powered Cogeco’s Canadian operations, its Portuguese subsidiary Cabovisão pulled down the company’s third quarter financial results. For the quarter ended May 31, 3009, consolidated revenue increased by 11.4% to $316.3 million, and consolidated operating income from continuing operations before amortization grew by 10.4% to reach $129.4 million. Cogeco seeks to raise $300 million

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable has announced a public debt offering of senior secured debentures series ‘1’ worth up to $300 million. The Canadian and Portuguese cable company set the interest rate at 5.95% with a maturity date in June, 2014. The debentures will only be available in Canada, and proceeds will go towards reducing its debt.
