EXTON, PA – The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has announced the creation of the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), a global brand for the availability of superior training and certification resources to cable engineering and operations professionals around the world.

ISBE, which will serve as an international gateway to SCTE’s library of educational and certification resources, is intended to eliminate existing brand confusion and provide a single, unified source of training materials to the cable community, reads the announcement.  SCTE materials that will be available through ISBE are created in conjunction with cable operators in the United States and other markets worldwide, and are aligned with the global activity of CableLabs.

“Cable system operators around the world face a universal challenge:  the need to make sure that their workforces are prepared for the new technologies that are on the horizon,” said SCTE president and CEO Mark Dzuban, in the announcement.  “ISBE will bridge gaps in existing training curricula, bringing state-of-the-art content that is fine-tuned to address industry needs to cable engineering and operations professionals in every market.”

In a related development, SCTE also announced that U.K.-based Liberty Global has become the first international operator to join the SCTE Corporate Alliance Program.  The program enables operators of all sizes jointly to address industry issues, to develop solutions and prepare for emerging technologies, and to dramatically expand access to training and education. Liberty Global will access educational material and other resources via the ISBE brand.

Additional information on ISBE will be provided at the International Breakfast at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo on September 25 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
