SCTE president departs

EXTON, Pa. – The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers said this week that its long-time president and CEO, John Clark, is leaving his position effective on Friday “to pursue other interests,” says the SCTE press release.

“We thank John for all he has done for SCTE after entering into the important leadership role of president 10 years ago, and we wish him well in his new pursuits,” said Tom Gorman, chairman of the SCTE board of directors.

Gorman announced that Marv Nelson has been appointed interim president/CEO, effective immediately, and is responsible for managing the affairs of SCTE until Clark’s successor is named. A search committee has been formed, and a search will begin immediately. The committee will be chaired by Frank Eichenlaub, who is western vice chair of the SCTE Board of Directors.

A 28-year veteran of the cable industry, Nelson is SCTE vice president, professional development. He joined the SCTE staff in 1991.
