SCTE Ontario gathering next week


OTTAWA – The SCTE Ontario chapter general meeting will be held Thursday, April 27 in Ottawa.

The session topics will cover all aspects of fibre optics. Attendees will gain a better understanding of fiber optic fundamentals, DWDM, node splitting techniques, HFC reverse path issues and troubleshooting.

Times Fiber is also offering their plant tour on Wed. April 26 in Renfrew.

Deadline for registration is Monday, April 24. If you want lunch, pre-registration is mandatory. Vendor tables are still available, too.

Other SCTE Ontario notes
Due to the August long weekend, the golf date has been moved to Tuesday, July 25. The location is still at Lionhead G&CC in Brampton.

The Ontario Cable-Tec Games was a resounding success. This year there were 23 contestants, the best turn out ever.

The event hosts for the Cable-Tec Games were: Power & Tel Canada, Telonix, Thomas & Betts, Times Fiber, Capella, AFL Telecommunications, NCTI.

The overall games winners are:

1st Place: Don Becker
2nd Place: Jason Wilson
3rd Place: Carey Challice

Becker and Wilson will represent the chapter at the National SCTE Cable-Tec games in Denver. Telonix, Power & Tel Canada, and Thomas & Betts contributed a $1000 prize towards the top three overall winners expenses to the SCTE Expo in Denver.
